Vtb-1 and rode k2 - good or bad combination

Hello everyone!!!

I have RODE K2 microphone , and about 3 months I'm trying to find preamp for the mic... (I produce hip hop music)....
---
My audio interface is m-audio 24/96... And my budget at the moment is around 400$ - (350 eur)
People say studio projects VTB-1 is very good... But I don't know... For 400$ there is probably something better, yes?
+ RNC (really nice compressor)

Please help me to choose preamp, please.

Save up just a little more and get the Grace m101. That's my setup, differing in the interface of course, but I can't complain. I had the vtb-1 before, its a good pre for what its worth. but the Grace's bang for buck value far surpasses that of the vtb.
