Thread Starter | Is there a forum in here I can ask trouble shoot questions
I know this is all about equipment but is there aforum in GS I can ask questions about setup? I have some low level questions about using SPDIF, Digi 002, 96k and Light Pipe.

Yea I have done a few searches but I just need clarification on a few things. Basiclly, what I want to know is this. I had that Beheringer 8 channel AD converter going ADAT Light Pipe in to my 002. I am comming out of the 002 Using SPDIF into the central Station to do my DA. When I tried to record at 96 my SPIDF output selections on my tracks got disabled. Someone told me it was because anything ADAT Light Pipe comming in can only go up to 48, so PT will disable your SPDIFs comming out if you swtich the session to 96. He said to unhook your Beheringer AD converter from the 002 light pipe input and you can then select SPDIF out again. Now I guess that makes sence, if you set to record at 96 but you have a device that only goes up to 48 your going to have problems, and I really dont mind unhooking the Beheringer because I really dont use it. But, was he correct when he said ANYTHING comming into the ADAT light pipe can only go up to 48? I ask because I was thinking about going after a highend converter and connecting to the 002 using ADAT IN recording at 96. |

I do believe that the S/PDIF input will support 96k, if that helps at all...

Ok if its SPDIF going in at 96, can SPDIF IN bring in more than two channels? And if not, what are my options recording in at 96 without using the Digi002 converters with aleast 4 inputs. ( I have a feeling I already know the awnser)

From what I understand, the M-Audio Profire Lightbridge will give you 16 lightpipe inputs at 96K. (32 at 44.1 and 48, but Pro Tools is still imited to 18 i/o). If you don't mind moving over into the Pro Tools M-Powered camp, this may be the best option sonically. Of course, then you would have to purchase the expensive converters. | |
