Greetings. This song was recorded using cheap gear. The acoustic rhythm track was recorded with an MXL909 aimed at the lower body and a ADK GC1 Generis condenser mic at the 12th fret using an Aphex Tubessence 107 preamp. That track and a second acoustic track were run through WAV to Midi converter software to generate the strings. The MIDI files were cleaned up using Cubase SE3, then run through through Finale Songwriter to make the WAV files. The bass was DI'd through the Aphex as well. The drum track was also written using Finale, I did the basic snare, kick and high hat as one track, then made a second track with the fills on it. The lead was doing using homegrown Strat run though a DeltaLab DGFX1 Effects box. All the recordings were done using Audacity, which was also used for the track editing. The finale mix was done using Cubase. Ain't perfect but it don't sound too bad to my ears. The song is titled Angel Sword. Tony MP3 Player SoundClick |

OK, I usually record someplace that has mics, then I mix at my home studio. I have less than $500 invested in my studio, not including my phone and my PC. iPhone w/DAW Multitrack by Harmonic Dog ($10.00 iPhone app) Samson SM-58 clone (with nothing to plug it in to). PC with Reaper lots of free plugs M-Audio 4" monitors. 60's Japanese drum set Ludwig Acrolite snare Zildjian ZBT hats Sabian XS20 ride cymbal Squier Strat Crate V-18 amp Daisy Rock acoustic Squier P-bass Lots of fx pedals How does it sound when I RECORD there? Garagey, but you've heard worse. These are me on all instruments entirely through my iPhone receiver mic (I never record direct). The extreme lack of headroom on some of the loud parts is a soundcloud thing.
