Guys we've gone astray.
The original thread stated set ups below $7000 let's stretch to $10k at most.
But I'm seeing V-Synths $3k and multiple preamps where even 2 lower ones hits $1500
Not counting the computer itself what are people doing for below $7000

| My_Baby_Just_Cares.mp3.mp3 - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage
This track was done with an M-Audio Tampa (£95) and a Studio Projects B1 (£65) as my vocal chain.
As you can tell the rest is programmed using EzDrummer + Vintage Rock EZX, Plugsound Jazz Bass, Garritan Steinway.
All the fx were freebies apart from Voxformer on vocals.

The Tampa sounds good. I thought about getting one but wasnt sure how it sounded. Are there any "mods" that can be donw to it at all? Either or the recording sounds good to me.

His work is amazing, I'm gonna have him do a pair of MXL 603s with his KM 184 killer mod. I've heard his a/bs and some independent ones, absolutely stunning! |

These are a few rough mixes from the next album...
I just created this player and page specifically for this post - haha The Silence Kit
I'm definitely no pro and this is definitely a low-end set up but it does the trick really well for me. I just like recording my band b/c I like being able to spend a lot more time on my recordings to get something closer to what I want. Plus recording in general is fun to me so I get to record my friends' bands which is a good time...
Interface:
EMU 1212m (with: MIDI, ADAT and S/PDIF i/o)
Pre-amps:
MOTU 8 Pre - drum tracking
ART Digital MPA - tracking pretty much everything else
Mics:
(1) AKG c2000b - room on most songs
(1) AKG d112 - kick
(2) Audio Technica AT4040 - overheads
(1) Oktava MK-319 - room on a couple songs, backing vocals
(2) Sennheiser MD421 - rack toms, electric guitar
(1) Shure Beta 57A snare (side or top)
(2) Shure sm57 - snare (side or bottom)
(3) Shure sm58 - high hat
(1) Shure sm7 - floor tom, lead vocals, bass cabinet

Mine's very primitive. Shure PG56, PG52 and PG81s, into a Peavey PV14. I'm upgrading all of my mics eventually to C1000s, D112 and '57s, soon (pretty soon) I'm getting an ESI1808 and linking it up to the (EFX send) outs of each eight channels.
