5 Aux sends, low end desk

Dear Slutz,
Please can anyone help. I'm looking for a friend for a low/ mid end analogue mixer for a live band. He needs a F.O.H mix and 5 separate monitor mixes.
So far, i've been checking Allen Heath mix wizards and I saw a used yamaha desk with lots of auxes on ebay but didn't make a note of he model no. Doh...!
Any pointers or suggestions would be most welcome!
Thank you.

How many channels are they looking for? My guess, for live, they would need at least 16 channels...yes?

The Mackie Onyx 1640 has 6 aux sends, and 16 decent XLR ins. I know a lot of folks around here tend to bash the brand... but IMO the Mackie stuff is good value for the $$, especially for live work. I have regularly seen used 1640s on eBay going for under $800-$900.

regards

Thanks for the reply! Looks ideal.
Yes 16 channels would be good or even 12 at a push (8x mic/line and 2x stereo line) channels. I've seen Mackie and Behringer get a bit of a rough time on here, but as you say, it's all cost relative.
I think they are looking for the next "step up" from their behringer, i just don't know what that is...!
I assumed maybe soundcraft, Allen Heath....
I'll keep on web-trawling, but any suggestions are most welcome!
Many thanks.

The Mix Wizards are very good desks indeed and the build quality is excellent IMO - if you're based in the UK they are possibly better value for money than their American counterparts, especially s/h.

If size isn't an issue, I've seen various old ramsa/panasonic boards go for very little money. They sound good.
