Mixing out of the box with 002?

Are there many of you mixing out of the box with 002? Are you using stems or just doing two track? What's your method? I'd love to see some examples and how it works for you.

I do.

I have a alesis Ai3 and a RME adi2 so I get 18 I/O and then feed that back into my Scorpion, I mostly use the eq on the desk and I have a few outboard compressors. If I have to do a not of corrective eq I use some digital stuff but if it's something that i have tracked I dont have to that much. Right now the best verbs that I have are in the computer so get a good blend in the box then bring them out on the desk and mix from there.

I tend to use my DAW like a tape machine, my mixes tend to have more feel.

I've been thinking about this quite a bit lately.

Im wondering if there is any difference using a Folcrom compared to a Mixwizard.... I would be using an SSL Comp over the stereo Buss with either so i think the final tonal quality would be somewhat similar (stereo pair of SSL9k pre's would probably be used in assisting makeup gain since i dont think the SSL comp will provide it all).

Both can be had for about the same price (A&H used), both provide 16 channels of summing yet one provides some general purpose preamps and more hands on control as well as panpots and the likes...

Any comments on the 2?

I have a Fulcrom and love it.

The idea is you buy that and 2 x nice mic pre's to raise the level..

Yeah i know, i was just curious if there was an dramatic difference in terms of sond quality between the folcrom and a mixwizard... i understand that the folcrum allows different sonic properties to be placed over the mix (of which i was going to use a pair of SSL 9K pres), but this can also be acheived using certian gear on the stereo buss of a mixer... like by using an SSL comp for buss compression...

what pre are you using with the Folcrom? I have a TG2, ever used that? If so does that take it up a notch?
