Roland W30 users

Hi,

Are there still Roland W30 users? I want to create a dedicated Roland W30 site with tips and tricks, new school sounds, forum, exchange samples, etc, etc.................

Who wants to help?

Regards,
W30Slut

I dont have a W30 these days but I still have my s750/60's. I think they can read w30 disks? Not sure if there would be so many folks still using a W30, maybe theres more still using their s range samplers. I still use mine....although havent in about a month.

Maybe if your intended site covered the s range as well you might get more people interested?

BTW, I still have a soft spot for the W30. Its what I learned sampling with....and it was amzing what could be done with 12 seconds of sampling time?...not sure about that one. I suppose it was one of the first workstations. I wrote many a tune on my w30....I might even have some disk lying around.

good luck

Send a message via Yahoo to Boby Stoica
Liam Howlett from Prodigy - the best example of W30 sound. Do a search - there is a site with all his gear, including useful links.

I never had the W, but still own and use on occasion my S50 and S550.
Does the W30 read S-50 discs? I've got around 200 here.

I love my W-30. It was my first "pro" level board. I accquired it 4 years ago.

I use it mainly as a controller these days, but it has a wicked sequencer and the sampler is still pure class. I need to source some more floppies for it though ;(

bought one in 1989, new. first real synth i bought.
used it a lot, nowadays not anymore as i've a lot of other synth's ( a6, voyager ) .
however can't sell it:
1 price is ridiculous low
2 i know the beast in and out
it's a pity the original w30 yahoo user group was spammed to death, no alternative on the net to give this synht the attention it deserves.

I think this board is a major underdog, and I feel proud to own it. I wish I could justify purchasing another one, but I just can't ;(

"I'm selling my (Roland) W-30, w/ a library of sounds and the upgrade kit. The keyboard is in mint condition."

I had one for years - got it in 89/90 when it came out - it was my workhorse for years... I have all the original factory discs which I'm now importing/converting to Kontakt via Awave studio from a USB Floppy Drive.

Man - I recorded TONS of stuff on my W30 and a Yamaha 4tk cassette deck back in the day... I gave it away in 99 can't say I've missed it (maybe sometimes) but it really was an amazing and robust board.
