Thread Starter | Cheap click-track
What is everyone here using for a click track? I am trying to figure out how to get a click to my 2 DA-38 recorders. I do have a cheap pickboy metranome with a 1\16 plug out but it is not real musical. What I am looking for is like a cheap or free drum machine for my computer. Or an older drum machine so I don't have to learn midi. |

Find any cheap drum machine - Alesis, Boss - whatever. You ought to be able to get out for under $100, and it will work for years. if you start using your PC (or mac) as a click track, even assuming that there IS such a program, you really won't be able to use it for much else while tracking. And when you upgrade the OS on your computer, the drum machine will still work, unlike a lot of old software.

old, cheap, keyboards. sometimes(albeit rarely) it may actually make sense to keep the click in the final mix. It can also makes the session more fun.

some of the old lower-end yamaha QX sequencers had a 1/4" CLICK out on them, (sends out a loud metronome 'blip' tone, you can pick those up for like nothing.

Last night we used an Alesis SR-16 and it ended up on the final mix. You can probably get one in trade for a good, working guitar cord.

$35 used Boss drum machine. Works great and I can vary the sound (a click is so boring).

This got me thinking.... Has anyone used one of those cheap Digitech guitar multi-effect things for a click/drum machine track? I was just thinking that it may be a good idea to get one (RP50) to use as a drum machine, as it is probably easy to program a simple beat to play to, but it may be too limited. I just thought it may be worth it for $60, a drum machine and a guitar effects unit. |
