yeah you can't kid yourself long because like I said mic placement and selection is crucial but it won't matter how good you are at positioning mics if the drummer, room, and drums sound like CRAP. mics no matter what price and all that still pick up CRAP. Usually more expensive mics are better at that than cheaper ones.

hi slutz, I wanted to share this drum micing demonstration/presentation - we mic'd a snare with 5 direct mics, the kick with 4 direct mics and 3 sets of stereo pairs.
