Fwiw, don't fully go by what ppl say about the ATC-2 EQ as the designer himself, Malcolm Toft, has said that the EC-1 is another EQ design, more 'modern' sounding. I haven't heard this EQ myself, but i guess i can trust the designer on this one

that's the thing , the ATC-2 got reasonable good reviews, but i read somewhere the EC1 's different in design and parts. was wondering what 's the difference soundwise..
thanks.

The EC1 uses the same parts, mic amp and compressor as the ATC-2. Where it differs is it is a mono unit, and the EQ is much different. The EQ is from Malcolm's 980 console. So it is a four band sweep EQ with all peaking bands. So it is a bit more flexible and more musical sounding than the ATC-2.

The other addition is that you get another switch which allows the EQ to be switched pre/post EQ. If compression is not needed, the AFC-2 which is dual channel mic amp EQ(same EQ as EC-1) will be out soon.

I hope this helps.
