Which Digital Interface would be a better fit?

Presonus Firepod vs Echo's new Audio Firewire 8
We will be recording 8 track analog at 1x from
a Roland TD-10 electronic drum set. The rest of the tracks will
be recorded one at a time. We will be using a custom PC build for Audio. If I go Presonus I will use Cubase LE if If I go Echo I will use TRacktion.
I am interested on hearing opinions on the 2 digital interfaces.
Thanks Mike

What analog recorder are you using for the drums?

As far as interfaces goes - I got the MOTU 896HD for my project/mobile recordings and haven't looked back. So, I'm no help on the digital end...

the E-MU 1820m is in your price range ($500)..there is a thread right here in low end about it that I would read through if I were you.

I've personally never used any of those so I'm not going to give you advice..there seems to be a lot of raves about that E-MU though.

I have the Firepod and I think it is a great interface for the money.

The pres sound pretty good, it goes to 96k, and Cubase LE is actually very usable. I would take Pro Tools LE over it any day, but for the price and the extra mic pres the firepod is a great option.

Check out ebay, sometimes they have some deals where they will through in a mic or two and some cables for free.
