PGDMK6 Shure Drum Kit

What's the word on this Shure drum kit? (Shure PGDMK6 Drum Mic Kit) I am looking for something not too expensive to do remotes of the local rock, R&B and blues bands here in my area. I prefer straight acoustic but a lot of these guys are amp'ed who want to be recorded.

1) Is this a good value for money kit ($400)?

2) Is there something about this cheap which is a better choice?

Suggestions, advice? Help me out here.

Thanks, guys.

dont waste your money on poo gee mics just buy a beta52 an SM57 and a pair of condensers.
there is a kit with a 52 3x 57s and clips.

That is the Shure DMK57 kit. Are you familiar with it? BTW, what is "poo gee"?

You could try the equation audio alpha series mtd7.2 Got a good review in sound on sound mag. Slightly cheaper at £175, which is about $350, assuming that the change in pricing doesn't screw you over. As seems to happen to me. $400 in the US tends to mean about £300 in the UK. Bastards.

I haven't had any personal experience with any of these kits tho, so you would need to try them out. Worth a look certainly. The kick mic is apparently a bit weak, but the others are ok.

I like the Audix Fusion 6 better.
or even better.
Get 3 used sm57lc's $70 each, a used beta52 or AKG d112 $100-120 and a pair of new Samson C02 $105-110 for the pair (nice cheap overheads) . A tad more but MUCH better.

The kit you mentioned comes with the PG series mics, much less quality the mics mentioned above.

i think its the DMK5752 but i cant remember the exact name. i havnt used the clamps/clips but i use 57s and a 52 every week. they are standard mics that do what they are meant to and industry standard for good reason. then again i rarely use SM57s on drums anyway, usually betas or beta grills on SM58s have become my standard snare mic now.

different people have their preferences and in alot of situations other will perform better but people always come back to a 57 on snare and a 52 on kick because they always work in any situation.

PG series mics get called poo gee by some people including me, ill let you draw your conclusion as the name says it all. its with good reason that SM and betas are industry stands not PG series mics.

All - I have other mics: DPA 4006TL (2), Schoeps CMC64 (2). Schoeps CMC68 (1), RODE NT1-A, Peluso CEMC6 hypercardioid (2) and a Maxell 602s. I am OK for the other mics, I just need a tough set of mics for drums that is good but not too expensive. I kind of figured the Shures would be OK as they seem the standard for tough but OK mics. Seems that way, except for the Audix voice. I will look at them. They are cheaper, for sure.

Any other ideas?? And thanks for the input so far.
