| Mackie HR824 to Adam A7's Has any one made the move from Mackie hr824's to the well regarded Adam A7's? If so can some folks shead some light. I have the 824's and I'm just not hearing heavy gtrs and mid stuff correctly. my room is small and treated well. Arthur |

| I have extensive history with original USA made HR824's: I have a limited experience with A7's but have used them a fair amount around the shop. I recently moved to ADAM P33A from the Mackies. The A7 are more mid-forward, and believe it or not they're a tad brighter vs the HR824. The low end on the Mackie is far deeper in response, and the Mackie get much louder. The HR824 really is a decent speaker, but there is somewhat of a sheen and sparkle going on with them to an extent (not much more than the extent that ALL speakers are flawed and must be learned...but I digress). The A7 have that nice depth to them that ADAM speakers deliver, not near the depth of the P33A mind you, but still they deliver front to back information very easily which I find can make work easier. Neither are "bad" speakers, they are actually quite different with the Mackies being more full frequency spectrum and loud but the ADAM providing more midrange depth and detail and a present but smooth top. This is very general statement type of stuff, but hope it helps. War

| HR824s to A7s. One of the best moves I ever made.

| I like A7's much better than HR824's. I especially like it better than the new HR824's. Everything sounds clear and natural through the A7's. The stereo field is sweet.

| (No offence, but why is this in high end?) ![]() Haven't used the A7s, but I went from my first monitors (humble Wharfedale 8.2As) to HR824s and I wasn't that impressed. All top and bottom, to my ears. Then I moved to PMC TB2SAs and the difference was massive. |

| yeah - anything moderately good 9and that includes the A7s) will make those nasty Mackies seem like a bad memory.... can't get on with them. Not good at all. Have a look at Acoustic Energy AE22s if you can. A great monitor that competes with stuff 4 times the price. I auditioned them next to my Earthworks Sigma 6.2s and was mighty angered at how well they faired.. |

| I also upgraded from the 824s (made in USA) to the A7s (with sub 8). I absolutely could not believe the dramatic difference – all good. In my view this improvement can't be overstated. |

| I love my A7's. Add a sub if your going to do any bass heavy work. The ribbons are very sweet, though you may need to dial them down a twitch or two.

| Are you folks finding it's a pita to work with and place the sub? Seems like some folks avoid it like the plague while others find it a godsend. I heard the Adam A7 in one room and when we added the S12 (yes 12) the difference was massive it not hyped. The S10 and S8 weren't available to us at the time.
