Thread Starter | What applications do you use your Lexicon verb for.... Just purchased a PCM96. I would be interested in hearing what applications you use yours for. Single tracks, complete mixes, etc. Where do you end up going to it the most? |

| I think it's great for adding a HUGE hall to the entire mix. Seriously... who spends $2500 on a verb and needs to ask what to do with it? Have you ever thought about trying it on a lead vocal? |

I was just curious what applications others have found they love it with. Someone always has a unique trick with a standard piece of gear that yields exceptional results.

I use it mostly for verb. Occasionally I use the delays. I haven't found a use for "resonant chords"

| I use the hot-rodded LXP-15 for drums, it makes a great quick ambience that sells the "room". I use the old tweaked up 200 for vocals, it just seems to work very well there. I also have a heavily modified Echoplate II. The main verb is the Bricasti M7, that sells the room better than anything ever made. It's used on tracks that arn't drums or vocals = everything else. Tried the PCM 96, it sounded like a 480, nothing special or new that I don't already have. The M7 is another world from anything else. Since Lexicon will cease service or support on everything they make I went with stuff I can repair (classic older Lex verbs) and the superior commitment and service from Bricasti. Since I keep this stuff forever, I require companies that will be there when I need them. Lexicon is no longer there. Jim Williams Audio Upgrades |

| Lives for gear | Algorithms The 96 have very few algorithms, 6 at most if memory serves me. Some or one of them use the two engines together. These are the richest reverbs. I reckon in this mode it equates with a single engine of the 480L. Preset 1 Big Blue uses this algorithm. Take Big Blue and tweak to suit your purpose. Try the shape and spread to achieve a faux echo, a ghostly almost repeat on vocal. I believe that's all you need to know about the 96. Lovely machine. Enjoy it. DD SoundSound - Homepage |
