I think perhaps Tibbon has brought to light the very essence of the argument. Go ahead and try it for yourself, if you like it and it works for you great. If it sucks take it back, don't buy their products again. But, don't pis* in someone else's rice bowl because of your bad experience or your politics. I doubt there is a one of us that can go through our day without using, buying or otherwise supporting something that was either made in China (or some other foreign country), or was involved in some form of "intellectual" piracy. that's not to say we can't become more in tune to it and try to avoid it, but let's not be hypocrites here.

But not to rant on your rant I have no loyalty or fondness of Jobs. Just humor in the irony that one of the biggest anti software piracy moguls started as a software pirate and people never give a second thought to giving him his 6 million a day.

I just don't share the automatic Behringer slams. I have maybe been lucky in my choices but I've bought 3 items that are excellent at the same time knowing of some that are problematic.
Xerox!

I hear ya on the other points. It's usually the businessmen and their attorneys who make the money, rarely is it the innovators.

Also, 10 years ago, I bought a headphone amp from Behringer. I still use it, it's decent.

Naren I owe a sleepless night to you. I knew there was some other computer you left out of your list. Bugged the heck out of me til' I remembered it.

KAYPRO

That was a semi-cool box for it's time.

Lemme' be honest about one piece of my gear. The Truths. I started DAW as midi only. For a couple of years all I had was some Sony 7506 headphones.

After discovering that everything I had mixed for the previous 2 years was boomy due to headphone mixing I needed a set of monitors.

I also didn't wanna' mess with poweramps so the Truths (being active and biamped) stood out to me.

So...... yep they work for me BUT I have not tried other monitor setups.

But they do sound better than my phones and it's helped my bass mix.

I wouldn't mind trying out other setups....

So much gear.... so little time. (or is that money).

Even when that first horrible Macintosh came out, Atari and Commodore were ready to roll out far superior implementations of the 3M ideas.

Sorry for the rant, but Jobs gets way too much credit. I've hated the guy since he ran those TV ads comparing the "innovative" Apple to cultural icons like Martin Luther King and John Lennon. What a dick!

BTW, the best computers of the mid-80s in order:
Commodore
Atari
Mac
MS DOS

But the success stories are the reverse order of this list. Go figure.

Back to the Behringer debates...

My Commodore Amiga 4000 Tower still kicks today with Non-linear video, Non-linear audio an a realtime 3D rendering card and that is from 1992. even an Amiga 1000 could multi-task with just 512kb of RAM and had over 500,000 colours when Mac's were B&W.

Please don't say jobs invented any of that shit...

Bash Behringer's quality all you like, I use some B2030As, a BCF2000, and an old school Studio Exciter at home and I've owned their comps in the past, all of it works brilliantly, not one issue with the BCF or 2030s, there is one scratchy pot on the exciter but c'mon, the thing was built in 1989 and has been shipped to me from Austria.

Maybe it's just a quality control issue but I can't say any of their products have ever failed me and yeah, 'slave labour' is something we have to deal with I guess, most companies do it and on one hand, Behringer may rip these factory workers off but if they moved their production back to Germany, those Chinese workers would either be jobless or go get ripped off by another company, perhaps paid worse than what Behringer gave them.

I use Behringer gear to teach signal flow and and technique. It works, it doesn't make the kids mixes sound terrible and they can learn a lot from this stuff. I one for one like Behringer.

Its a global world -- rules are different, when you cross the borders. Might be a crap shoot when the item arrives > but, if it works & keeps your cost down ( to help keep the doors open) ...its Walmart prices for your studio. Now ..Behringer :: get to work on copying those Neve, Fairchild, UA , TeleFunks
