DigitalFishPhones (Free plugins)

What do you guys think of these plugins? I really like their compressor, specifically. It seems kinda dirty...
Just Checkin'...
I also found this awesome delay called Bionicdelay, also a free plugin. It is stinkin' cool. Anybody else tried this thing?

I've been surprised at some of the free plugins I've come across. Some seem very useful, specifically these two.

Yes they are awsome indeed! Blockfish is my favorite plug-in compressor. I really like it on snare and kick. I just wish they had a mono version of the Audio Unit.

i've also got the digitalfishphones plugs. the compressor is very cool. i like to dirty up a snare with it. it can be used tastefully or just be plain trashy in a cool way. a mono version would definately be a plus.

Their "Spitfish" is one of my favorite de-essers. Free or not.

Just use the VST/Au adapter and download the vst version of the plug. Its not quite as good as the AU but still cool.

Pretty darned good- especially for the price....

For the Samplitude and Sequoia users out there, Version 8's "analog suite" of plugins was done by Sasha (who did the digitalfishphones). They are another pretty giant step up from the stuff he did for these plugins. I've been using them a lot and I'm quite happy. Oh yeah, and they are included with the upgrade.

love the gate that's included in that bundle, very easy to use and often a lot more effective than the Waves noise gate.

I agree. Both the gate and de-esser are the best I've used.

Blockfish vs. DBX

Does the VCA setting on this thing sound like a DBX 160? Close enough that I shouldn't go buy a DBX 160?

If this is just an 'in the vague ballpark of a dbx comp' kind of setting, then what is the Opto setting supposed to emulate?

Of course, by the time they finally release V8, I'll be too old to push faders.

these plugs rule.

i love the blockfish, but i really love the floorfish. a frequency dependent gate - very sexy.

the floorfish can take a lot of the room sound or sibilance out of a poorly recorded track if you know what you're doing.
