Man Bowisc,

I hardly consider what you have as low end gear. I see some Lavry Converters, Apogee, a Benchmark DAC-1. All I see is gear I wish I had. Lucky you. Do you have any samples of the music your making with that stuff?

Oh, that's a Mytek there on top, not Lavry. I did almost take the plunge for the Blues.

Well I think my Behringer headphone amp at least qualiifies me right?

I'm still low-end at heart.

Masterlink, Hardy M-1, Specks, Rosetta I just acquired in the last two weeks... and wiring just came in. I'll either post some old stuff I want to re-mix (using the Folcrom), or post some new I'm in time. Nothing major-league, just local talent.

running amd daw here. use my own diy mic pre's.
work for me. varaiety of mics. used to run a bigger studio but got fed up with maintenance costs.
main recording software is powertracks by pgmusic.
gives me 48 tracks. and magix music studio.
between these two i'm set for years. and i'm v happy.
been recording for years.(eons?) . but dont consider myself
an expert. just like to have fun and make songs in all styles.
if anyone wants to hear my stuff. i'll post the link.
got a bunch of other stuff i wont bore you with.

my approach bobby is simple. ive used and bought the hi end stuff in the past , and its fine; but i save a bunch of money my way. also i love the FUN of it.
people are taking it all too seriously imho.
if you want to hear one of my comical songs
soundclick.com/bmanning click on music.
try "limeyrap" and also "i'm too old to rock and roll",
and listen to "take my love", and the last line in the "siamese cat song". all comical songs for fun. had lots of plays.

labs , my old place was nice. treated rooms etc.
now i'm just as happy. no pics as i might be moving.
sorry.

Here's the control room at my studio, Cauldron Audio.

Note the vacuum cleaner...

Stole the garbage bag over the console idea from Jules. It's a lowly 32 ch Ghost w/midi.. don't get excited.

thanks rich.
portsmouth . great place. many times felt like moving there.
or generally devon or cornwall. nice and peacfull.
thanks for listening.

loved that garbage bag just posted pic.
makes a ton of sense. - just joking - that picture isnt a low end studio. with a ghost ?
low end is when you fish things out of the garbage,
use speakers as microphones, modify foreign terrible sounding mics, and build your own cables.

ive tried pre's built into soundcards. never been too impressed.
think its best to seperate the pre's. the reason i like diy pre's is one can swap around components. easily. and i'm more in control
of component selection.
now if only i could figure out how to build a sound card thats simple and clean !
