Drum machine recommendations to be used with acoustic kit

I want to add some flexibility to my acoustic kit when I play live. Ideally, a drum machine (or midi interface to sampler ), 2-3 pads and 1-2 acoustic triggers) to be used for specials sounds (persussion, hand claps, different snare sounds, hand drums...). Want to keep it simple as well. Like the Roland SP20 - a bit expensive though.

I don't want to spend a ton of money so what's your thoughts.

A cheaper alternative could be the Yamaha DD-55:

The pads felt more solid then i expected actually :-)
It has midi output as well, so you can hook up a soundmodule or sampler later if you want to trigger more and/or better sounds.

How about Ddrum triggers on the kit and a sound module? Something like a V-Drum brain or maybe the Alesis D4 that I have for sale...?

All you need to make a record is a mic, some tape and maybe some bad reverb...

I would look for a 2nd hand Roland SPD20 or even better the new SPD-s, which can also play sounds you sample. I've seen the first one for good prices, the latter is newer, but I've also seen those 2nd hand, but offcourse that one is more expensive.
