Peluso CEK-12 and acoustic instruments Hi. I unsuccessfully tried to get some answers on this subject in the "Too much gear..." forum. I'm currently modifying a typical C-12 chinese clone (T-Bone SCT-800). In fact, the only thing I haven't changed is the capsule. I have been using the mic to record acoustic instruments and the chinese capsule's 2,5khz bump helps bringing them out in a mix, but I wonder what a Peluso CEK-12 capsule would sound like doing the same job. Since I don't have any way of trying out a Peluso capsule without buying one, can you tell me if the CEK-12 upgrade will still keep the mic's usefulness for acoustic instruments, apart from improving the overall sound? Thanks!

I have one in a Nady, and it has a great bright, but not harsh sound. If you're looking for a sparkly sound out of acoustic instruments-pick and string sound, it'll be great. If you're going for something more Neumannesque and mid forward for capturing the body of the instruments, I'd try his PK47 capsule. Craig

Thanks, Craig. How would you compare your Peluso capsule vs the stock capsule, when micing acoustic instruments? I understand that the CEK-12 is a bright capsule, but I would like to keep this mic as the "go-to" acoustic mic. To you think it would be an improvement for this specific task? Thanks!
