| EQ to eliminate crowd cheers I know, kind of a strange question, but here goes. John Prine dedicated a song to my hometown in a concert years ago. The part where he says "this ones for you", is hard to hear because of the crowd cheering. So, is it possible to use EQ to eliminate some of the crowd? If so, what is the best way to go about it? Thanks for any help!

| well, you could sweep a parametric eq at a high q until you find the strongest part of his voice, boost that way up, and bring all the crowd-noise frequencies way down. a crude solution but one that may serve to make "hello, cleveland!" intelligible.

| Duplicate the track. Try to CUT OUT his voice as much as you can on one of the tracks. Flip the phase of that track and adjust its level to taste. Not perfect, but should work.

| if its a stereo track, you could even convert it to M/S and cut his vioce only in the M channel and convert it back, and flip phase and so on. If the cheering is only on the sides, it could be enough to just lower the level of the S channel.

| If it is really important and you have some money to spend, there was a noise reduction plugin made by Cedar Audio that would do just that. I believe that it was designed for forensic audio. I got to mess with it on a SADiE machine while in school. It worked great for isolating very hard to hear speech on tapes used as evidence in court cases. If I remember correctly, it displayed a spectrum and you erased the part that you did not want. You could specifically see the speech, and on another part of the spectrum any noise, constant or transient, and you could just erase the noise, leaving the desired audio. Very cool plugin!

| Thanks for all the suggestions! I will take those tips and play around with the track (it's a stereo track), and have a look at those plugins (could come in handy for other things). B
