Can't testify for the Alpha

But I own an Omega. and while the preamps aren't the most amazing sounding things out there. it gets the job done, and very well. The only thing I was rather upset about is the fact that it is UNABLE to lock to any external timepiece, and the MIDI I/O has some sufficient lag time (so I use both a MOTU Timepiece/Midi Interface but more so an M-Audio Midi-sport 8x8 on loan to me). I started using it as a beginner and it was a wonderful introduction to the world of music recording. But as I evolved and grew as an engineer and producer, its functions are somewhat limiting (i.e. the inability to route to external gear unless you're using the left and right stereo outs, problems with windows recognizing drivers....but thats probably just the OS being a pain, and limitations to only "in the box" mixing). All in all, as I said, a very good tool for a beginner or ultra budget studio, yet also as i mentioned before, this is my experience with the Omega but I'm sure it could go for the Alpha as well.
