M-Audio Fast Track Ultra as a standalone mixer ?

Hello,
Does anyone know whether M-Audio Fast Track Ultra with its MX Core DSP will allow standalone mixer operation similar to RME or MOTU interfaces ?

Thanks.

Unfortunately no. The Ultra wasn't designed to work in stand-alone mode. You have to be connected to the computer in order to make changes to the mixer. If you set everything up ahead of time and then disconnect the Ultra from the computer it will still pass audio in the way configured but this is not official supported and may exhibit some performance issues.

I hope this helps

Yup so for small gigs etc. Just hook it up to a small g4 powerbook and go!
BTW RayT, !up for the new firewire drivers (beta 10.4.11) Works really nice. BUT BUT BUT, still the window button in transport section in logic studio 8.0.1 flips out and crash my mac.

Thanks for quick reply. While we're at it I'm bit confused about Profire2626 description. Does the standalone mode work only as AD/DA converter or does it factor the mixer settings? Or is it not officialy supported as well? Thanks.
