Are Pro Tools sessions openable in Pro Tools LE?

I'm going to be tracking some stuff at another studio in a few days time.. they're using a Neve console, I think everything will be recorded to PT though..

Can I take these session files and open them at my project studio in Pro Tools LE? I'll avoid using "pro only" features, so there shouldn't be anything in the session file that couldn't be done in PT LE.

If PT LE can't open files from it's big brother, any suggestions for taking the sessions home with lots of editing/comping NOT done yet? I just want to use my studio time primarily for tracking and do the editing, etc. later

you should be fine. Be aware of what sample rate your hardware can run though. the older M-boxes can only do 44.1 and 48kHz, so don't track a session at 96kHz only to find out you can't run it at home
best of luck!

You bet they are. Just get the session files and data, take them home on your computer, and open up the session files like you normally would. There will likely be some input/output differences in the sessions when they first load, but you can just go into that menu option and set everything to default.

One warning: If they are using PT 7, and you have 6 at home, make sure the session is saved as PT 6 compatible. 7 sessions are not saved as such by default, and do not work in 6 unless you specify the session be backwards compatible. Probably won't be an issue, just ask the engineer and go from there. Have fun!
