I've gotten quite a few E-mails regardig changing their order. Apparently some in the USA have gotten a rebate check for $600.00 and want to "up" their order. Up and until the time you actually pay, you can change your order. (up, down, or cancel)

GB Payment Update
Hi All:

Just wanted to give you a quick update on the GB Payment Process.

I have finished all the coding on our side, and have ran several test transactions through the gateway and it seems to be working 100%. I feel confident enough that I wouldn't mind opening up payments again, but I'm still waiting on the SSL to be installed on the server... I wouldn't enter my credit card info on a website that wasn't SSL secure, and I don't expect anyone else to do that either...

As soon as this SSL certificate is installed, we should be good to go...

Thanks,

Randy

Now, let me ask you guys a question:

What mic from the GB do you recommend for overheads? I was thinking about a pair of 583s for this duty and one 1200 for vocals/mono situations...

And I´m getting a ACM-3 for guitars...

What do you think Chance?

Just remember that the "583" is a bright mic. For guitar cabs, people are loving the ACM-2.

hummm, so it fits my needs...
should I change the ACM-3 for the ACM-2?
should I keep the 1200 for vocals?

Chance - I have no idea about any of these mics - other than some of the names and look are familiar.
Is there any chance you can give us a bit of an idea of preferred use for each mic (ie. vocal, acc inst, elec gtr cab, bass etc) - also bright / dark etc.
That would be very helpful to buy the corrrect ones for my needs. And I'm sure other buyers would find it useful.

I'm in the same boat. I'd like to add some mics to my order, but I'm having trouble finding enough info on the ACM-6802T and ACM-1200. Any comments / clips / links / comparisons would be much appreciated.

BTW, thanks again to Chance and Randy for all their hard work.

I'd be interested to know if the 1200 is stock, or a somewhat customized mic, like Chance's 583, 310, etc.

Junior, there's not a lot of information on the 6802t, but you'll find some examples on voice and acoustic guitar over at HR. There's a whole pimp your mic thread on it too.

a short summize of what each mic is generally prefered for or sound description would be great. ive done a couple searches and can only find a few reviews on the various models.i keep 2nd guessing. would be great to have some kind of brief description un- scientific of course. this would put an end to my switching my order every 3 seconds.

Chance,

Looks like alot of posts from the last two days got wiped off this board so in case you didn't read my post here ist is again. A fellow Gearslutz member and myself have tried to register for the group buy at your site now that you have re-opened registration. We both had the same result. The opening page say's that registration is re-opend and we filled out the forms but when we click on the save info button at the bottom of the page we get a page that say's registration is closed, giving the old close date of a couple of weeks ago. Can you look into this and post when we should try again?

Thanks for that info. Whats strange there have been quite a lot of new registrations in the past 2 days. Try again and if it still doesn't work, PM me

About mic recomendations. Thats a hard one. What is one persons treasure is another persons "nothing special". Many are lloving the ACM-2 on guitar cabs. I just finished a project where the female vox was extremely thin. I tried all of my hi-end mics and they just didn't cut it. Then I tried the tube ribbon and it gave her vox a nice smooth-bodied texture that was just what she needed.
I prefer, if possible, to not use EQ on the way in and this ribbon worked well. The FET ribbon was also good.

From the time the manufacturer recieves the funds, it takes around 10 weeks for the manufacture, and anywhere between 2 weeks and 1 month to arrive at the port of LA. Then I am guessing about 2 weeks to ship to everyone from here.

Thanks for the update. I forgot to ask, that since you extended the deadline, is there a final one that will determine the start of the manufacturing process?

Hi Chance,

I know you have much more important things on your mind but...

i am in australia and have got my order underway for 3 mics and a pre and i was at at the VK site the other day and they were charging (i think) around $300 US freight for a mic in a case to ausralia...then I got thinking...I've ordered 3 mics and a pre ...what the hell will the freight be on that lot ???

Obviously more than the dollar value of my initial order....having second thoughts

cheers

What is "VK"? I have sent more than that for less than $300.00 to Austrailia.
