Somehow I´d expect the shipment be cheaper than the goods?

Well,, for one thing one person would have to be responsible for everyones order. This would also mean the duty, broker fees, dock fees etc. The problem (now that I think about it) is that I have already included these charges (to the USA)in the posted price of the gear!
Well that's not as bad. I didn't know the brokerage and duty were included in the price. So if I understand correctly, the shipping fees we pay cover the shipping from China to the US and then from the US to wherever you live. And any brokerage or duty fees from say US to Canada is the buyers responsibility upon pick up?

Fed-ex quoted over US$350 - stuff that.
Please please please send my stuff regular US Post.
I'm in too - a few mics and possibly a 73 - still deciding.
Regular US post is perfect - its nowhere near as expensive as FedEx and USPS..
I dont care if it takes 10-14 days to get to me - I'll be waiting long enough anyway!!

Ya, USPS covers the brokerage and duty in the cost of the shipping I believe. The only downside to USPS is that their tracking system has plenty of holes in it and if your package is lost or stolen it can take months before a reimbursment. I'd still rather go USPS

IME, US/Canada import, we're billed GST (5%) PLUS any brokerage fees: UPS is the worst (and I mean STEEP - it'd probably be as much or more than shipping!!!), FedEx not as bad, and USPS has none. Some you pay upon delivery, some they bill you.

I recall Chance writing somewhere that FedEx is the courier, so if this is the case, shipping/broker fees will be fairly steep. Hopefully we can choose delivery speed - if I wait 3+ months for gear to arrive in the US, I can wait another week for it to arrive on my doorstep.

It's not nice to speculate, but if FedEx is the choice, and is shipped as expedited/rush, I expect to pay near "purchase price" again to get all the items to my door...

My assumption is that Fedex delivery in the U.S. will go Fedex Ground which has an equivalent price for those of us in the States to using UPS Ground or USPS Priority Mail.

If I were living outside of the U.S. I personally wouldn't not be taking a chance on the shipping costs. Instead just "buddy" up with a fellow slut and have him send you your unit via USPS.

Mercenary Audio use Fedex, and they provide a shipping guide on their website. For a package of between 10 and 15 pounds (which the ACMP pres MAY come in at), the shipping cost to Australia is $174US for a 5 day delivery. Mercenary's on the east coast, whereas Chance is on the west coast. That may bring the ship cost down. Maybe not. Mercenary may get a volume discount from Fedex, so their prices may not be a good guide.

I thought that I'd just get the manufacturer to wrap mine in plastic and throw it into the South China Sea. If I've calculated the current direction and speed correctly, mine should arrive in............ let me see........... Iceland, in ......... hmmm............. August 2019.

Hee hee
Seriously though - what do we do about this fellow Aussie sluts that are buying?
Does someone have an address in the US that we can send to - then get them to forward it on regular USPS?
Or do we just put up with the ridiculous freight costs from FedEx?

Angus, maybe we could get ours shipped together and I could drive up to Beerwah or you could drive down to Brisbane. Something to think about.

According to Mercenary's shipping table, a 30 pound package costs $278US to Australia for a 5 day delivery. That's better than $174US x 2 but still X-ie.

You might be right Angus, it might be cheaper to get a go-between in the States to take delivery and then forward to us via USPS. Know anyone?

Maybe - I will be talking to a mate who has a postal address in the US this arvo - so I'll let you know as soon as I do.
Good idea to work together though.

I just got an e-mail from Chance - he is going to see if my order can be sent USPS - I'll keep you updated on that - this would be the best option for us.

The ACMP73 is approx 4.5 kgs - so shipping would probably be based on 5.5kgs allowing for box/padding for each unit.

Ok- no probs - I will post any details I get from Chance re-postage.
Sounds like every overseas buyer is going to prefer USPS to FedEx - well at least those who are budget conscious.

I just did a quick quote on FedEx site for 10.0 kgs from LA (not sure where Chance is based or a zipcode for him) to Sydney.
Between $170 and $220 US for shipping..
Thats say getting a pre and a mic together for example..
Tim..

I'm in big time.

Ordered 8 channels - 2 73s and 6 84s.

Talk about a leap of faith.

I'll be bummed if these are disappointing but for some reason, I really don't think they will. We'll see. I guess the idea of having multiple channels of really good Neve copies is just too damn attractive.

Plus Chance and Randy are great dudes who actually seem like they are just doing this(which is a freakin' lot) These guys seem to really do it out of the goodness of their hearts.

Really cool.

Somethings wrong or you tried Fed Ex overnight. I just looked at some of my past GB orders that went to Austrailia (Sydney new South Whales 2567) was one ribbon mic and the fedex charge was $31.00. I do know, and you can check this out, but USPS raised their rates as of 2K8. I haven't heard from Fed EX

Do you have any past records for 1 x Pre and 5 Mics ?? Hee hee
I would love to get a good idea of freight.
I know this does worry overseas buyers - and who knows - if we could be assured of 'reasonable' rates then we may buy more ????

First thing I am going to do when I get mine is give them to my local tech to 'fix'. New transformers, tension ribbons, replace valves, whatever to get them sounding 'right'.

Not sure if I mentioned this here but pymt request for shipping to you is a ways off yet. A request will be sent after I have the gear here and is boxed and ready to ship (to you) (around 3 months)

Chance,
Thanks for the heads-up.
I guess if we knew how much shipping would be we could organise to buy more gear - well, I would!!
Will you be choosing anything other than FedEx once you have the items??
