If you're interested a shipping broker or whoever is handling the shipment should be able to tell you exactly when it is arriving at the port if they know which boat it is on. You really should be able to track it. The boats are scheduled fairly precisely so if your stuff is on boat X you know it departs China on day Y and arrives at port on day Z, unless there is some sort of disaster of course.

Honestly , I'm still a bit frustrated that the Ribbon type of mic we ordered got replaced with a cosmetically less interesting model.

Hope the performance makes the difference.

hey chance.

i'm one of the lucky few that live close enough to ontario to pick my order up when it arrives.

so if that is still a possibility, i'd like to do so.

thanks again chance, this is the first time i've done a GB and it's been smooth sailing the entire time (minus the mic getting switched, but i'm not really sweating it at all). you've done a very very good job managing all this wildness.

Sure! I look forward to meeting all the locals. As for the ribbon mic switch. I'm not sure I posted this here on GS you tube clips of the ACM-200 and 900
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUgfv...eature=related

Unfortunately, Youtube's quality/conversion didn't capture the quality as I would wish.

I just met with the people doing the pack & ship. I will try to get a hold of Randy later but when you all paid for the gear, I didn't bill you because you all knew upfront the cost of the gear. Since there is no way of knowing the cost of shipping up-front, because everyone will be different, I guess I will send an E-mail with the shipping costs. At this time (until I speak with Randy)I'm not sure how the payment process will work.

UPDATE
I was just notified that our gear is at the port in China waiting to be loaded on the boat.
On another note, I was just notified that 54 of the mic pres failed their quality control tests. These pres are manufactured in groups of one hundred. Because 54 failed, they are pulling the whole group of 100 just to be sure. (maybe these were made on a Monday or Friday) They are shipping only 900 out of the 1000 pc order and will ship the rest at their expense in about 2 weeks. I don't know when the boat will shove off, but they say this trip to the port of LA will be about 14 days. The broker will keep me informed but it won't be much longer.

Wow. While I am glad they have some QC in place, makes me a little nervous that 54% of a product failed.

That would be 54 out of 1000. 54 out of 100 was just for that group of 100.

So, does that mean that some will have to wait for this last 100 before their order is filled from your end, or were there enough extras ordered so that there will be no hiccup in the supply chain? Just curious.

I don't expect it to matter. I am guessing it will take a few weeks for me to complete all the orders anyway. I got around 50 extra pres, so just before we are getting close to filling all the orders, they should arrive.

Sorry, what I ment to say was 54% of the product made that day failed.

I am glad they caught it. Hope the same QC was implemented through out.

That is not unusual. They probably got a batch of bad components which caused some sort of failure that was caught during final test, before it gets boxed up.

There are always extras from someone. Just keep your eyes on the For Sale section, both here and at Homerecording.com after folks have tested their new gear. Some have ordered more than they need because of the great deals with the Group Buys, and will look to move what they do not need. Some have ordered some just to re-sell, so be ready to move when that day comes.

Hey Chance,
Any idea roughly when we will know the shipping information. It'd be nice to be able to be able to budget for it.

I spoke with the broker yesterday and he said that the mics are shipping from China on the 13th and the pres will ship on the 15th. They are shipping from two different ports. They expect the voyage to be between two and three weeks. Once they arrive here in LA, they must be held for around another week to be cleared in customs for release. After that, they will be shipped to me and will immeadiately be disbursed to the shipping dept.
