I was just checking out "Tamura" xfrmrs ( TAMURA TRANSFORMERS ) that Scott Dorsey has used in the C-3000 mic. While I was there I was also checking out their 6072 tubes. 5000 for one! I hope that is yen. When I was there in the 70's it was 360 Y = $1.00. Anyone know todays echg rate?

Hmm I might just try one. I would guess it would be better than tubes from China. Scot Dorsey says the xfrmr he used in the C-3000 was only $12.00

Does anyone have links to all the GB discussions? I would love to have the links consolidated to one place so we can read what is going on.

Thanks.

I think of the PSW site as ground zero, though I have found different info on all sorts of different sites...such as the home recording forum, Prodigy Pro forum, here on GS. I heard about the GB on the Mackie forum of all places. There are literally hundreds of pages on the Chineve pre's and the mics for this GB between all the different forums that took part.

Chance was Johnny on the spot with that answer.

I know the feeling, but I'm thinking it will be another 5-8 weeks before any real news.

How does one know when the next set of orders get taken? I've been rather curious to check all this out but it's all nebulous as to when you can order these things, or what they even cost. A little bit more information would be appreciated.

Chance *MAY* do another group buy once this one is complete.

Prices are not publicly disclosed due to manufacturer agreements

Can't wait to get mine

>>I just got word that our ETA is around the end of August<<

So does that mean that's when new orders can be taken, or simply when the last order shipment comes in?

That's when the last order comes in. Given the hassles arising in this last GB, Chance hasn't said whether he's inclined to ever do this again. Read the thread and you'll understand.

No big deal. I've been curious about this, but it's too much trouble, really. Better to spend whatever and get something like a Chameleon Labs unit, which are readily available and require nothing more than money to obtain.

True, if you can put your hands on "whatever". Not everyone can, though, so for us the gear buy is a great thing, if a bit of a gamble. And we all paid Chance nothing more than money; well, some of us have paid him compliments.

I just got notice that SOME of the mics (135 cartons worth) are finished and ready to ship. Some mics need to be individually inspected (ribbon sag) They said that because this is "a first production run" on the mic-pres, they need to test every piece. I might just go ahead and have them ship what is ready now. I say "might" because it would involve extra steps and trips to the port of LA customs. I will call Randy later and see if he has the shipping data on how many and who ordered mics only that are now ready to ship.
Stay tuned

Great news. Except, I only ordered pres.

Anyone else planning on dropping Carnhill transformers inside their pres? I need some assistance with selecting the correct model #.

"Unfortunately I know nothing of the product that you want them for..... but as a general guide;

The VTB9045 is a mic input transformer.

The VTB9046 is a line input transformer.

The VTB1148 is a line output transformer which has a narrow enough connector panel for it to fit in most 1U rack cases.

Everything is still on schedule.
I don't know if I posted on this board, but I have demo's of the ACM-200 and 900 up on you tube. I thought a visual demo might be better so everyone can see things like distance from the mic etc.

Good sounding microphones!
Didn't get any of the preamps yet did you?
Assume if you did you would have mentioned it.
