Hi: New member, what can I say, a great forum. I am looking at getting a Presonus fp10 (formerly firepod) anyone had any experience with it? I use Cubase on my PC and mostly record bass, guitar, vocals but need something like this to record drum kits as I use MIDI drums (Artist Drums). Any feedback appreciated. Cheers. |

I own a couple of Firepods...they used to be my primary interfaces, but I've since replaced them with an SSL XLogic/RME HDSP 9652 combo. I use the Firepods for remote stuff now. They sound pretty good, especially for the money. The conversion is good, but not great. The preamps are nothing to write home about...I always bypassed them in favor of outboard preamps. The good thing about them is their stability...I never had a problem after I got them working the first time....drivers were very good. There are some other solutions out there though...I've heard great things about Motu's 24 I/O though I've never used it myself. Weez |

I've got a Firepod in near perfect shape that I've had for 18 months and am selling if you're interested. It's listed in the gear classifieds. I think they're great for getting started, they're stable and you won't get 8 decent quality pres, decent conversion and stable drivers for less $$$. Let me know if you're interested. I use it with Cubase and have not had any issues...

yeah, it's great if you're just starting out and need to get drums done. and one feature that never gets mentioned: xlrs are all on the front, pretty useful if you don't have a patchbay or are using it live.

i've got one and it's helped me get by. i just bought a lunchbox and plan on bypassing the pres on the firepod and just using the adc's until i can afford a rosetta or something, so it hasn't been too bad of a purchase in my case, and if you have similar ideas of where you're going to go with it, it will be a pretty decent purchase.

I own one and I love it. Just so long as you know that it is a low-end unit, and it does have its limitations. That being said, for what it costs, it performs very well. The preamps are very clean. Very easy to set-up and use.
