Soundcraft 350 mixer... what to watch out for?

I just got a used soundcraft 350 mixer (powered, actually).

I know it's not going to play with the big boys. But it's what I could afford on ebay.

Question is, what in particular should I look out for? I don't have the pro ear to tell whether a problem is coming from my preamps or my mics or my effects boxes. I'm learning, but anything y'all can tell me would help. "Those preamps suck compared to mackie onyx" would, in all seriousness, be an OK comment, as it'd tell me that i should try to bypass the preamps as soon as I can afford it.

Any comments? Any experience? Help!
