These things kick ass. For 24 clams I can not stop singing the praises. I put them up against 8 sets of Audio Technicas and a pair of my buddy's More-Me headphones in a tracking session with 8 musicians and holy Sh**, everyone was fighting for this pair!! Seriously, spend the 20 bucks. I can't believe that these sound so good. I now have 8 pairs of Audio Technica headphones for sale that I paid $90 a piece for that don't come even close to sounding this good. Crazy I tell ya, Craaaazy!!! These are great headphones for tracking. The bottom is so right there. I'm not sure who all is carrying them but I found mine at Front End Audio for $24. I just got a couple pairs of these EQUATION AUDIO :: Beyond Equal for $80 each and they are by far the best headphones in that price range that I've come across. They seem pretty heavy duty too. I've have Sony 7506's and they always sounded too tinny and cold. The Equations have a nice bass response and sound much closer to what's coming out of my speakers. I just got a pair of the EP.3070 and quickly auditioned them on an acoustic track and they sounded better than the Moreme's I just sold but I'll have to give them another listen today with some full band stuff. I was thinking about ordering a couple pairs

OK I just compared the RP.21 and the EP 3070's and the EP 3070 is a little more muffled than the RP21 but man these things have a nice bass response for little headphones. I compared the Sony 7506 and the Sony's sound like a transistor radio compared to the Equations. I don't think you'll go wrong with either pair these are truly great headphones for the $$$ |

The EP3070 takes every other cheap headphone out there and mashes its face in the mud, spits at it and calls it names. In other words, they rule the entry level tracking headphone arena. Detachable cable (which locks, see my YOUTUBE VIDEO), bass response that kicks ass (local engineer bought the first pair, said it sounded like a bass amp was strapped to his head) and good isolation. Cheap enough so that when assholes stomp all over them and throw them in the studio, you don't lose big if they break. War | |

The Equation RP-21 are the best I've heard in the sub $100 range and fairly close to what is coming out of my control room speakers (JBL LSR32's). That alone makes it a good tracking headphone as any good musician will adjust their playing and tone to what they are hearing (tracking is the LAST place you want hyped phones). The Equation EP-3070 is lighter on the head, does not have the same frequency response but is still nice sounding, has a cheaper/thinner cable (both models have a 10' straight cable that locks into the headphone and has the standard 1/8" jack with 1/4" adaptor), and is hella cheap so it's a no brainer to give it a try for yourself. You can buy the beefier RP-21 cable by itself for replacements or to use with the EP-3070. Seems like alot guys here are basically using sub $100 phones in their operations and if you are one of those guys I would say: If you run alot of musicians in the studio at he same time like with string sections/jazz big bands and need a couple dozen cheap decent phones, then using all EP-3070's make sense, otherwise I'd recomend the RP-21's and have a couple EP-3070's as options for the musicians just letting them know the trade off is less weight for a bit less sonics to use the 3070's. The next price point up is the $150 range and I know of at least a couple threads already on what the guys here like at that money. I'm not a gear pimp (just check my other posts) and I have yet to buy from WAR (got my Equations from a dealer in Atlanta that gave me a good price), just saying you should check out the Equation's when you need some phones in the sub $100 price range.
