Alesis MultiMix Firewire 16

Anyone own one of these?
I bought mine 10 months ago. It's just terrible. If it was working properly i'd love it but does anyone know what's up with this?

1. The sound is thin and weak, not just the recorded sound but just playback in general
2. There's random spots of 2-3 seconds of silence in playback/recording
3. There's glitches, crackles and it just plain out doesn't work as it should.
4. The sound levels are ****ed, not the seperate sliders, but the main output sliders and the headphone volume knob are ****ed, the sound only sound good if it's turned all the way down, or else it's just crazily spikey and allround terrible.

Is this a software/driver problem or just a very dodgy unit? I've contacted alesis support with no success.
