Is the Digi 003 worth the upgrade from a Delta 1010?

I'm using a Delta 1010 soundcard with Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 but I suspect the Delta's A-D converters are not the best. Is it worth me upgrading to a Digi 003 with Pro Tools LE, or is there a way to buy extra converters to bypass the Delta 1010 altogether?

I don't know about the 003, but the 002 wasn't an upgrade really. Not in conversion quality anyway. It has pre-amps, but they are not very good. And it has more features for sure, but it depends on what you need to know if it's worth it.

I'm not sure about the 003 vs the 1010, but I can tell you that the delta 1010 and the 002 both use the same preamp. so if you want see if the 003 is worthy upgrade you'd be better off checking for the "002 vs 003" as there are more threads concerning the 003 vs 002 question. also you might consider the black lion audio mod for the delta 1010:

I had the 1010lt...........Now I have the 003r..........NO COMPARISON.........

The Digi 003 BLOWS the 1010 away no doubts about it.

The AD conversion is so so so much better just for starters and that doesn't even mention the number of options in the 003 that are not in the 1010lt.

i tested the preamps of the 002 and 003 rack side by side and can say that there is a very noticeable difference....the 003 sounds alot better.

The Delta 1010 doesn't have preamps, only converters. But they do have the same converters.

The 1010LT and the rack mount version don't use the same converters, the Lt is unbalanced I/O, and I'm sure there are other differences. Not a fair comparison.

Listen brother, I used to own a Delta 1010 LT and now have a Digi002r. I wish that I would have never sold my Delta. Initially, I couldn't figure it out. All of my pre 002 mixes sound much. The conversion of the 002 is less dimensional than that of the 1010.
