Effects processor

I recently bought a tascam 2488 mkii and use it by itself for recording (no computer) Its great except that I was kinda dissappointed by the effects library. (No noise gate, limited reverb and no compression for individual channels) I think, correct me if Im wrong, i need an effects processor. If I do can someone point me in the direction of a good one for pretty cheap?

cheap used lexicon (mpx100 or mx200) sounds like what you're looking for.

Yupper... a Lexicon... or T.C. Electronic's M300 is also excellent and CHEAP too!

Alesis also makes some cheap FX units... but I would submit that the Lexicon and TCE boxes sound WAYYYY better for the $$
