| I've got a Mbox mini, what mic-preamp should I buy? I've got the Mbox mini, and I want to purchase a better preamp/DI. I'll be using electric/acoustic guitars and bass on the DI-side/Hi-Z input, and a SM7b for vocals on the micpre. My price range is up to $700, What would you suggest I buy? Grace Design 101? Summit Audio 2BA-221? What are your ideas/experiences? I have no prefs soundwise, I think. Any input appreciated. |

| Anything will be better than the M-Box pre, I would recommend; the Groove Tubes Brick, $400 the FMR audio RNP, $475 and if you really want to get into something that will never let you down with the Sm7b, get the Great River ME-1NV and never look back. peace mixwell

| When I just had an MBox, I purchased the Dav BG-1 and it made my tracks sound way fuller. Sounds great for Acoustic, Vocals, and you could even run the Bass through it with an adapter, or a passive DI with an XLR out. I A/B'd the DAV and the Avalon U5 as a DI, and the Avalon was a slight bit punchier with more presence, but the DAV held it's ground with it. I ended up using both for different tones.
