What software are you enjoying for your loops? Stretching/slicing/idiot-proof

PC platform - Just wondering what to get -

"Live" drums/rock drums - Considering EZ Drummer or DFH or BFD - any preferences?

How flexible is EZ drummer? Looks like it has a decent set of features, but I'm wondering if I should just go the whole hog and get one of the other 2

Loops and "drum machine" vibe - was thinking of maybe FL studio.

Anything you're digging?

Talking Idiot Proof....

I am using garage band to produce. Very simple to work with. The 2 things I dont like are the selection of Midi Sounds ( I added a bunch) and that garage band only works with AU's. But I like the fact that I can work with my M-Audio Keystation and my MacBook when I'm on the road.

What machine are you running? You'll need a couple of GBs worth of RAM to have those running smoothly. I think that EZ Drummer is the easiest on the CPU. I like to use that for songwriting stuff. The specific jam packs work great for that.

If you feel like looking into something a bit more.... inspiring but more expensive, look at software that excels in looping.. i.e. ableton live. fun stuff with a bit of a learning curve but very musical.

Are you talking about the quality of the standard samples that come with FL, or are you talking bout the plugins?

I mean it looks like a quality DAW, and the sample-picker seems pretty intuitive

Wow that liveslice thing looks great.

Reason - how do I convert WAVs AIFFs etc into Rex format for playing back in the Rex player?

... or converting to .samp format for playback in the sampler? (I'm still on Reason 2 in my old Mac so maybe this has all been updated)

Hi Thierry... maybe I got the file name wrong -

The Reason sampler uses a specific file format - I don't seem to be able to play back AIFF files (haven't tried WAV though)

Ableton Live - So is there a huge difference in features between full and LE versions?

i.e. drag n drop to the grid, tempo-adjust/time-stretch on the fly, re-pitch on the fly are the main features of Live (in a nutshell of course)

Why not bouncing to PT via Instrument track and ad Audio track?

But what you mean play back? you can save the songs or the loop from reason to an Audio file (wav or Aiff) ...?

About Full and LE or...yes ..many difference...
Like Reason Adapted... you got more with the full version...

Peace
Thierry
