Thread Starter | Simple Sampler
I have a corporate audio job (meetings, seminars, fund raisers, ect). I'm looking for a very simple type of sampler that holds maybe 8-10 samples and triggered with pads or buttons (not midi). The function is simply to playback samples such as: "The meeting will begin in 5 minutes" or "Please turn off cell phones and electronic devises" Because it's not necessary (only beneficial) I don't care to spend a lot of money. Likewise, it's doesn't need to have a great deal of options, just record and playback. Does anyone know of such hardware? |

Boss sp-202 or 303 could do the work and should be cheap. -Tomi |

unless you need realtime recording, why not a cd player? or an ipod? or a voice recorder? most of them are digital now (not tape) so you can skip between tracks etc. a sampler is really intended to pitch shift or tempo match, which would be overkill probably for your application... |

First, thank you guys for you responses. The problem with the Laptop, CD & Ipod solutions is availability. Often they will used for other purposes when the sample needs to be played. Laptop may be holding a Powerpoint presentation, and the CD or Ipod is playing background music. So essentially, the hardware needs to be dedicated. Also, immediate playback without seeking a track is advantageous. I agree, crufty, it's overkill, but I can't seem to find anything "middle of the road". ![]() The Boss SP-202 seems close to what I'm looking for, and not very expensive. I have a feeling it may be my best option. |

I've got to think that adding a 2nd dedicated MP3 player would be easier than dealing with a tabletop sampler. Something off of clearance with 512mb would be fine, as long as it has a screen. Another option, get a 2nd screen for the laptop, and use that to run background music and announcements off screen from the presentation. |
