Desk Wrong Height?

I've been using an Omnirax Presto desk for my DAW studio setup for a couple of years now, but I've always felt the desk is too high for me (I'm 5' 7"). If it were about 4-5 inches lower, I think I'd be happier with it.

Does anybody here have this desk and have you sawed off the bottom a bit to lower it? If so, any suggestions about things to do or not do?

Yes I have one. I wish I didn't. The height of this desk has always bothered me. Plus, I hate the lowest shelf, because I can't get me feet under there!

I did think about cutting it down a few inches but then my keyboard shelf would be way too low.

Right after I bought it a whole new crop of cheap desks came out.

Oh well. . .

Hmmm....yeah, I've noticed that. Oh well is right.

As I build my garage into a studio, I might just have the contractor take a few inches off the bottom of the desk. The keyboard tray can rise and everything is too high now (including the monitors!).

I'll let ya know if it works...

Crazzzy... both me and my partner feel that our desk would better a few inches up...

but I'm 6'1 and he's 6'3.

Could it be the desk is the right height, but the chair is too low?

adjustable chair is cheaper than a new desk, but some people really hate that feeling of having your feet dangling and not touching the ground.

My feeling is that you can adjust to a number of different situations for your keyboard, mouse, music keyboard and mixer. But your monitor height is critical - put it in the wrong place and you will get a stiff neck, bad back and eyestrain.

Maybe you can fix your problems by getting a different, more adjustable monitor.

A friend got one of those swing arms for his flat-screen and now he can put it almost anywhere at any angle.

What is the height as it is now? Im 5'7 as well and have my desk(not omnirax) at 27" to the top, and its perfect. A typical desk height is anywhere from 27 to 32 inches, but I find 30 and above too tall for my height. As a cabinet maker I can tell you that even going down by 1" can make alot of difference in comfort for a particular person. I say that because 4-5" could make a change for the worse, but to each his own right?
