Replace my 002r or get a nice mic pre?

Got a little cash to spend but having trouble deciding what to get next. Been thinking about ditching my 002r for the Apogee Ensemble. I'd also love to get a nice mic pre to start getting better results when tracking my Rhodes and synths.

I know the 002r converters are not great so I'm thinking it may be kind of pointless to go for the mic pre at this point (though that option just sounds way more fun!). Ensemble sounds like kind of a boring upgrade but probably the way to go at this point.

Any thoughts?

002 is cool!
Just get a pre!
Converters are overrated, they are good enought on 002 for pretty much everything!
And with 002 you can use PT, and I really like it!

I don't have it but I wish I did. Solves you're A/D problem. Api A2D or get the BLA mod and a Dav BG-1.

Both those options will run the about the same amount as the Ensemble.

Hmmm, hadn't thought about the A2D in a while. Could be the way to go.

i would seriously consider Lynx Aes16 + Aurora 8 or Uaudio 2192
or Lynx Aes16 SynchroLock(TM) + Emu 1820m with apogee wide-eye wordclock cable

millenia media hv3 or john hardy m-1
clean or transformer harmonics
