Advice for my home studio

I'm going to start building my home studio over the next few months and I could use some advice. I'll be recording vocals and acoustic guitars (for now) - drums and bass will be midi - so I'd like some info on good mics for this application. My setup is:

imac 20" 2.16 ghz 3 gb ram
garageband (will be upgrading to Logic 8)
POD XT

I will be getting the apogee duet for my interface and either the Adam A7's or Dynaudio BM5A's for monitors. Also, my acoustic is a Gibson Hummingbird, if that makes any difference on what mic would be good for me. I'm looking to spend no more than $500 right now for the mic(s).

Thanks

I like my KSM32 on my Martin and my old Stella.

go with the adam a7's..... and.....neumann tlm103 for your hummingbird. nice full crisp response, for a large guitar like that.

I have a Hummingbird and it sounds fantastic. My 4050 does the trick for me. Sometimes I'll add an Oktava MK012 on the upper neck. I'd go for the 4050.

I prefer the Adams, but listen to both and see what you like better.

I like my Oktava MK-012's on acoustic guitar. Check out some clips here:
MySpace.com - Bailey Easterwood - CULLMAN (Holly Pond), US - Christian / Soul / Pop - www.myspace.com/baileyeasterwoodband

I recorded all those guitars with an Oktava. On Typical Love Song he played a Martin and I think everything else there is a Taylor. The vocal mic is an AT3035. I'd recommend starting with something cheaper like it until you get into it a bit. There's nothing wrong with that mic at all. Since this kid's record I've upgraded my vocal mic selection a bit, but I'll still use the 3035 at times. Best wishes on your new studio....

+1 on the A7s but order them now, you'll have em in 3 months...
well, that's how long it took to get ours 5 months ago.
try the at 4051 or a used c414

if you are serious about recording for a long term(decades) buy good mics, if your just doing it for fun, buy mxl.

Well I'm definately in it for the long haul so I'd prefer something that isn't "low" quality. The Neuman sounds (reads?) pretty good to me because I have a lower voice, so something that is a bit brighter might make sense, although it might be a bit out of my price range right now. I'm pretty sure I'll go with the A7's from everything I've read about them, but I'll have to a/b them with the dynaudio's to be sure.
