Thread Starter | tube stompbox vs plugins
Hi I have some hardware synths & drum machines i'd like to beef up a bit using distortion here and there, and until now i was doing it all using plugins. But i am considering buying some cheap and nasty stompbox/tube pedal to try something else and all "out of the box". - Would there have a real sound difference between real tube pedal (or overdrive pedal) and a vst plugin or a distortion from a digital hardware multiefx ? - The Behringer VT911 looks tasty, but i have never heard any (and i can't).. Is there anywhere where i could get some mp3 demo of tube stompboxes using something else than a guitar ? Any advice or hint are welcome ! Thank you |

reamping! reamping works great for distorted stuff. and that way if you have a good amp, you can crank it and get actual overdrive which always sounds the most natural. BUT, one pedal I would check out that has the best sound on any instrument is the Fulltone OCD. Whether you use it as outboard gear or in the chain for reamping it sounds great. |
