Presonus V-Fire issues

Running a PC DAW with a M-Audio 1010 PCI card, Cakewalk Sonar 6, and a recently purchased V-Fire to transfer audio off my Roland VS2480. Used to have a RME 9636 Lightpipe card and Roland's R-Bus to ADAT/TDIF converter box for the same purpose.

My problem is that my computer sees and can talk to the v-fire, but Sonar either will not show it or when it does show the v-fire i cannot select inputs from either my 1010 or the v-fire. Anyone else battle this issue? I know its got to be a setting issue somewhere in Sonar, but why it would change from time to time is beyond me. I have even once managed to record about 10 seconds of audio before it dropped out and hasnt been heard from since.
Ideas, anyone?
Thanks

m-audio & presonus

You need to set the driver to WDM. Or else it will not work. ASIO will only accept one driver.

You can use the asio4all driver as test.

It already is, has been forever because of the RME card before it.

yes, both are installed, the computer sees them fine and has been restarted numerous times.

I've opened Sonar 6.21 for you.

Go to: OPTIONS>AUDIO

Go to ADVANCED

Tick WDM.

GO TO DRIVERS

SELECT ALL.

RESTART.

Now see if in/outputs work.

Nope. Still can't see the v-fire in sonar. also, both the v-fire, Sonar, and the 1010 are set to the same sample rate, fyi.

Does the v-fire HAVE WDM drivers? Isn't it an ASIO only driver?

I'm under the impression that it'll run both. however i can easily live with using asio to access the v-fire, then switching to wdm for editing with the 1010. so far even that's been quite hit and miss.

I checked the manual. It refers to ASIO only.

So that leaves you with either ASIO4ALL.com to test or, perhaps the Centrance driver.

I think using the two soundcards together will not work.

Oh yeah, off topic, there is a remote controll DLL available so the VS2480 can remote controll Sonar. You'll need the SI24.dll, check rolandus.com .

Hope this helps,

Thanks, i'll check the asio4all driver.

Much as I love my little Roland board, these transfer limits are getting highly annoying and i've been toying with moving either to the Alesis HD24xr or the Tascam X48- both of which sport ethernet or firewire connections That and 16 channels just isnt cutting it anymore at my live recording gigs.

Thanks for all the help, i'll give it a shot once i get back to the rig.

To get the WDM template & ASIO template working you need to save both as different empty templates.
