Motu Ultralight re-record sync issues

Hi,

a friend of mine asked for help: he wants to re-record an audio track through his amp and use the re-recorded track parallel with the original track. Problem is we couldn't get the re-recorded track in sync:no matter what we tried, the difference between the 2 tracks stuck on less than 1 sample so it gives phase issues. The DAW is Logic on a macbook with usb2 ext audio disc.

Any info, solutions or experiences might help.

thanks
Budy

You can correct phase problems by changing the microphone distance from the amp. If latency is an issue with matching up the files, zoom in to the track's waveform and just nudge the audio files over to align.

Hi, thanks for the response. The re-recorded track is just motu-out > amp in > amp out > motu in, no mics involved. Problem tested with motu out directly routed to motu in.

Problem is that you cannot phase align the tracks because the difference is less than 1 sample. Because both tracks are used on playback this gives phase issues (the reason my friend asked for help).

On the test the re-recorded signal was phase reversed. They never cancel completely.

If you are hearing "phase issues" the problem is not a delay in the interface of less than 25 uS.
