Does adding a good mic pre and a a/d converter actually improve the sound quality of my mbox 2 by much? Or should I get another interface(firewire)?

This has been discussed here ad nauseam. But, yes when I used to own an mbox I added a FMR Audio RNP and a RME ADI-2 (both cost me a little over a grand) and it improved the quality noticably. It's not a silver bullet. Technique, mics, rooms etc. still have a lot to do with all of this.
