small mixer w/ pres and multiple outs??

i need some more mic pres because all i have are the 4 on my 002. i was gonna buy a Soundcraft Compact10 so i could get 4 extra pres and a nice little mixer. every review talks about how great the compact 10 is for recording but it only has 2 outputs. there is no way to record all 4 channels seperatly into pt at once from what i can see. so now im lookin for a new mixer. is there anythign similar out there that has at least 4 pres and 4 outputs? the compact10 is only around $180 and im trying to stay in that price range. i guess ill go as high as $250. something small like the compact 10 would be preferable but not essential. thanks

That mixer has inserts, so you can send each pre into a separate channel of your 002R line ins. It will do the job you want just fine!

No problem. I guess that is what fora like this are for.

It's interesting - when I first started seeing Gearslutz, it was mostly analog studio guys who looked down their noses on computer audio. NOW it is mostly newbies asking simple questions that experienced engineers learned in the school of hard knocks of making a living in sound and recording. How else can you learn things when there are few apprenticeships and jobs for new engineers? I spent 30 years in professional audio before computers came onto the scene. Things change don't they?!?

is that the Insert is likely post gain, but pre EQ so all you'd be getting is the mic pre stage and throwing the rest away. However, for the price that might not be such a bad deal.

That's a GOOD thing! You can get much better results with good plugins that the simple EQ on a small cheap mixer... Even a Soundcraft!
