M-Audio BX5a or KRK RP-5s?

Hi all. Trying to invest into some monitors..seeing how both of these are available at my local Guitar Center for the same price, I'd like to know which would be the better bang for the buck? My purpose is to edit vocals, mix them down, but at the same time, want a nice sound I can just play back music with. What are your suggestions? Thanks!

Neither.

Tascam VL-X5 will smoke them both in my opinion.

I didn't hear them both but if I had to choose between them both I would take the KRK cause there were better reviews than on the m-audio. Maybe you must consider a sub since the box isn't that big and you want to hear some bass...

My vote goes for RP5... they translate pretty nicely. Go for RP6 if possible, the low-end is better on them.

smile eq = bass and treble cranked up or mids 'scooped' out.

listen to Metallica's Black Album for an example of total lack of midrange on the guitars, or some pantera. this has nothing to do with the bx5 im just giving an example of scooped mids.

i love mids, mids are where its all at really. the warmth in your vox and gtrs are going to come from your mids, not your low freq, reserve that only for kicks and bass instruments.

wow rambling lol

Those both suck. At least save up another $200 and get some Events or something. The TR8's aren't bad, I think they're around $500. If you get the M-audio's or the KRK's you'll be upgrading within a year. They're that bad.
