I have never seen those monitors before. How do they do? Have you used anything to compare them to?

Here is mine. The stuff not visible is the API Lunchbox and the Pearlman TM-1 mic. Lot's o' bass treatment because it's a small room. But, it's not closed in the back, it opens up in both directions to other rooms. So the bass response is extremely good for a room of this size, almost completely flat other than one fairly narrow cancellation around 65Hz (which I'll get back to eventually.)

Ok I'll say it ...the traps look messy...BUT ...good to see you are paying attention to the room (which in some of these low end rooms is the most important element) ...I got quite a few Ready traps also...did you build frames for yours? and also did you get advice in regards as where you put them.

Yeh, they do look messy. But, since only I ever see it it, it doesn't matter what it looks like really, just what it sounds like. It is of course dead as a door knob with all those traps. But that's the price paid to make it a good mixing environment. And since the accoustics wouldn't have been that great for tracking anyway, it's for the best. Just trap it extensively, get the low end under control, close mic stuff, and use artificial ambience.

Though, since I have the API lunchbox and Tranzport, I can move around and record in the kitchen or bathroom as well.

The placement is the result of just endless experimentation. Meaure and cut, measure and cut. Except for one bothersome, but not overy bad, cancellation, it's probably flatter than most high end studios, within a couple dB of a center line from 40 to 300Hz.

So I know the gear is decidedly "not low end" but the room itself doesn't fall into the "high end" category considering I haven't even had time to treat it yet so I decided this was a more appropriate place to post! The empty spot in the left rack is for another BAE 1073 and the empty spot in the right rack is for a Retro Sta-Level. There are also two dbx 160x and a CL1B that aren't in the racks yet!

There's more info at Angel on the Wall Music.

They sound great! they have been a great remedy to any noise that might make it into the recording since I track in my control room. I love the red too. I have since sound blanketed the walls which has really deadened the room of reverberation and has cut the lows too which I didnt think would be a result but is a nice surprise. Anyone else here get such nice results from blanketing their walls? anyone tried blanketing the ceiling as well? I was thinking that might be a good idea. Thanks again !

Here's mine but it's a slightly older pic. I now have vxt8s instead of the k-rocks and no longer use the lappy on the stand. Instead i got a core 2 quad 2.4 tower. I think my place has a slightly higher end look, but other than the tube-tech it's all fairly cheap gear. Mostly things under $500. I think the mixer helps the image alot. Yes there's a behringer pre that only gets used on scratch tracks. As you can see I'd rather spend my money on cool keyboards.

These are 5" boomer + 1" tweeter, bi-amplified, I was on buyin' Fostex monitors to fit my budget, but a friend of mine, owner of a gear shop (Sono Shop in Paris / France ), let me try these, saying I can return them if desired... I never did ! They fit so well in my tiny room

Here can you see more about their specs :

This a panoramic picture of my room "studio" that I'm starting. Nothing impressive, firestudio 26x26 with some mismatched krk monitors. Once more money starts coming in then I'm going to get more gear.

waiting for my sis to move out so I can get her room and with it more space

Hey Andy ! Your monitors are too high ! Actually, you should want to have the tweeters at the same level than your ears... or pointed to your ears...

tell me about it! I have to stand up when mixing which is hard on the back. Like I said, I need more space and was worried about resonance problems if i put them in one of the shelves. They also sent me the wrong monitor through ebay, I guess im just gonna use the first generation KRK as a mono monitor and the second generations as the stereo ones once i get another one.

Thanks for trying to help though

My old room...

Right now most of it's in storage but I made myself a little mixing setup in the meantime (I could post a pic of that later)
