003 Question for 003 users

When i start my 003 up i get 3 "SNAPS" with about 1 second in between each snap, before my 003 is fully loaded up and ready to use.

Is this some kind of safty feature that all 003's have?

or do i just have a bunk 003?

You are hearing some relays reset, no problems

Mine does the same thing. It freaked me out too but I have done some heavy recording sessions with no problems.

When you say "snaps", are you talking about a mechanical sound coming from the 003 chassis itself? If so, that's normal. Or, are you talking about a sound coming through your monitors?

Snaps coming from the chassis. The only reason why it alarmed me was because they are louder then the 002. I wasen't sure if it was a relay or if my 003 was just having problems booting up.

No worries

I read somewhere that it is the unit going through a series of self diagnostic tests which is part of the boot sequence.

What can I say? If this is the only problem you're having - congratulations.

(Don't worry, it's nothing)

FWIW, when I first got my 003 I heard snaps and I called DIGI and spoke with tech support and he said that the snaps were normal.
