| Need help recording a harp!! i have a woman that wants me to record her playing harp what kind of mic would be best for this?? a condenser i'm thinking, but you guys are the experts |

| all i have for mics is a cad gxl 2200 an akg c-2000b, apex 430, shure 57 shure 58 and for pres i have a UA solo 610 and an m-box 2 pro |

| Harps are sometimes mic'd with two mics, one for the lower strings and one for the higher strings, similar to the way you might mic a grand piano. You may get more even coverage if you keep the mics at least a couple of feet away from the strings, but you can't always get away with that. You'll need mics that sound good at a distance and you'll need a good sounding room for that. You may want to try adjusting the mic position while wearing headphones. DP |

| Remember that much of the sound comes from the soundboard and that that occupies a fair amount of space. Getting too close with your mic(S) will not give the overall sound of the instrument. |

| Last harp session I did was with a pair of Shure SM-81's.
