suggestions for micing drums with the following...

got 6 channels to work with, DMP3 (2) , Behringer Mixer (2), and Digi001 (2). Also have an RNC compressor. I have two SM57s, two MK012s, 1 AT4050, two C1000s (don't like 'em but thought I'd list 'em), one ATM250 kick mic, and one additional cheap LDC. Wasn't planning on micing the toms neccessarily but fyi there are only two toms. I'll be expierimenting for sure, but any starting points on what mic to use where and what pres to use on what drums would be helpful. Thanks a lot. (I know I posted a similar post before, but I didn't have a kick mic before and that changes things a bit.)

ATM 250 kick
57 snare
MK012 as overheads
AT 4050 as FOK
C1000 as room

Should be able to get a decent sound that way. Use your best pres for overheads then kick and snare.

I use 2 4050 as overheads and 2 MK012 as FOK and room. I cannot live without the FOK and room mics. Brings out the kick and snare.

Snare top and bottom 57's
kick ATM250
Overheads Oktavas
Rack tom with one C1000 (Why not)
Hi hat with one c1000
Floor Tom additional cheap ldc
At4050 in omni or cardiod for the room mic.
I know it seems excessive but you can all ways take away what you don't need or like.

thanks nutra but I only have 6 channels of pres to work with. However, I will try the C1000's on the toms if I get some more pres/ins. Hey JohnWayne, I know there is no one right way to do anything, but do you have any suggestions for how far away and what height to put the FOK 4050? ALso, my studio is about the size of a fairly large bedroom with carpet on the floor, walls, but not the ceiling, where should I put the C1000 as a room mic? Would there be any sense in the figure 8 or omni setting rather than cardiod on the 4050? One last thing, the drums are normally setup in a corner...is this a bad idea? Sorry about all the questions at once, I really appreciate everyone's help around here. Thanks.

Try these things and see if they sound good to you.

Put Bass traps in all corners.
Put the 4050 about 3ft from the kit on plane with the snare in omni mode.
Put a piece of plywood in front of the kickdrum to help get some presence.
Try opening the door of the recording room and put the C1000 out there.
I would also take the carpet of the walls. It's probably going to kill all the drum sound.
Try here for Acoustic treatment Owens Corning 703, Roxul Mineral Wool, and Other Acoustic Materials

Just a few suggestions.
