Thread Starter | Rockwool or glasswool ?
Which one is better for bass trapping ? I can get both. The Rockwool i can get has a 32kg/m3 density or 48km/m3. The glasswool is just 30kg/m3 but much more expensive. Ivan |

Get the Rockwool! Its just the same for acoustical purposes, and its cheaper! I made my 11foot tall superchunck style bass traps with rockwool. Its available locally so cheap I still cant believe it! |

Rockwool has been suggested to me by an acoustics engineer.

Owens Corning 703 is what you want.

They all work pretty well. The OC is easier to work with, because of it being more rigid, but rockwool cost less. Glenn

Rockwool or thermafiber both have better low frequency sound absorbtion characteristics than fiberglass but it can be damn itchy.

So I guess i will get the rockwool, because 703 is not available where i live (on the north of brazil). How about the density ? The one with the higher density or the other ? And how about something to calm down the higher frequencies ? What would you use ? |

Ideally density should be minimum 50Kg/m3..You can use 4 to 6 inch panels for bass absorption & 2 inch one's for general absorption..
